A crown for every age, from three to grown-up.

A soft crown that ties at the back, so the same crown fits a child of three and a grown-up alike. This is the pattern I have used since 2012, when I cut the first one at my kitchen table; the crowns have since been made in their thousands and sold at Harrods. One felt template, two rectangles of fabric and an afternoon. Choose a fabric you love; take your time with the points.

Skill level: Beginner
Finished size: 37 × 12 cm; ties to fit heads 48–60 cm, from age three to adult
Suggested fabrics: Cotton velvet, linen, Liberty Tana Lawn, waffle cotton or sequin net; lined in natural cotton or linen
You will need: Face fabric and lining, 41 × 16 cm each; acrylic or wool-blend felt, 37 × 12 cm; 2.5 cm cotton herringbone tape, 64 cm; matching thread
Inside: Two full-size pattern sheets; illustrated step-by-step instructions
Care: Spot clean only

Suitable for ages 3+. Not suitable for children under 3 years. Adult supervision advised.
